This museum opened in 1977 is hosted by the former Museo de la Asegurada, a baroque civil building from 1685, which was successively used as attic, prison, school, archival building. It was the artist from Alicante Eusebio Sempere who came up with the idea of ??founding this museum, thanks to his collection of exceptional works by international artists. It has brought together 177 works: paintings, sculptures and graphic works by 114 artists such as Joan Miró , Picasso , Julio Gonzalez , Juan Gris , Kandinsky , Dalí , Christo , Arp , Chagall , Calder , Bacon , Giacometti , Tàpies , Pablo Serrano , Millares , Saura , Canogar , Guerrero , Chillida , Vasarely , Agam , Soto , Rauschenberg , Oldenburg , Equipo Crónica . Recently, the building was restored on the plans of architects Sol Madridejos and Juan Carlos Sancho , which allowed to enlarge it; it opened again in 2011. It now includes 3 exhibition spaces; the hall of art of the twentieth century. exposes every third month a third of the collection that was exposed until then. The Juana Francés Room contains the paintings, drawings and graphic works of the artist who died in 1990. The Salle Eusebio Sempere contains a number of works by the artist. A very beautiful building, a very interesting exhibition.
